Tiny Etsian Feature: III

https://www.etsy.com/shop/JoelPenkman?ref=pr_faveshops

When browsing through the huge art section of etsy, the thumbnails of Joël Penkman's pieces can be easily confused with photography. Indeed they are highly realistic prints of tempera paintings. Very tasty still lifes with a coolish yet blazing colour palette. The majority of motifs are foods such as popsicles, doughnuts, glasses of milk or (my favourite) a lovely arrangement of Holly Golightly's breakfast from "Breakfast At Tiffany's". Joël grinds and mixes his own colours, something very seldom applied by todays painters because of the time involved. But the results are marvellous. His work has been published in Food And Wine Magazine amongst others. He's currently living in the UK and has exhibited his art in the Royal Academy of the Arts in London, the Editions Gallery in Liverpool and various other galleries. Be sure to feast your eyes on his delicious selection of prints in his shop with a click on the banner.

Tiny Etsian Feature: II

When I first discovered this etsy shop, I thought it sold doll house decoration, crafting supplies and vintage gear. And then I read the small print! Andie and Jason Moore create "edible embellishments and decorative candy". Candy, that looks stunningly realistic and should be called Art indeed. Every piece is hand sculpted, poured and coloured. The supply ranges from plants and animal themed candy to every day tools such as buttons, gears or game tiles. In the last few years Andie's Specialty Sweets (on Etsy since 2010) became all the more popular by being featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, C Magazine! and The Huffington Post, amongst others.
So whatever you're up to celebrate (or if only you'd like to expand your button collection) there'll be a perfectly suitable piece waiting for you at the shop. And if not, they'll make it for you.

Additional information: If any 2 Broke Girls enthusiasts were to google Candy Andy Sweets & Treats, Andie's shop would be right on the front results page. Booyah!

Oh là là!

Right into my sunny October's day comes a truly inspiring, clever song and very pastel video for the empowerment of modern womankind. (Oh my!) Although this danish artist is not new to most, and not very much liked by me until today, when I discovered her first two albums (To me, a reminder of Björk, early Patrick Wolf and Hundreds and Thousands. Ah, good ol' times!), this fresh titel is worth a post. And it makes me want to drive to the academy and sculpt something! Hurray for early Oh Land!

Oh, scrumptious Jordbær!

No need for bowl or silver spoon,
Sugar or spice or cream,
Has the wild berry plucked in June
Beside the trickling stream.
